This article discusses Self-Care, the spiritual path, and the role of Reiki in one's spiritual journey.
The 5 Principles of Reiki and the significance of adhering to these guidelines.
Dr. Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki, firmly believed that to engage in the practice or transmission of Reiki energy, one must take responsibility for their own health and well-being. He formulated the five guiding principles to be applied in every aspect of life. Reiki is not merely a technique but a lifestyle embraced by all practitioners who choose to embrace this enriching holistic approach. Here are the 5 principles, also referred to as the 5 Precepts:
Just for today, do not anger
Just for today, do not worry
Just for today, do your work honestly
Just for today, be kind to every living thing
Just for today, be grateful
Embracing these principles was a pivotal part of my spiritual path. It enabled me to delve into my inner self, addressing the roots of my anxieties and fears. Through this process, I gained knowledge, acceptance, and spiritual growth, allowing me to overcome these obstacles that once hindered my life's purpose.
How can you integrate these practices into your daily routine?
Every morning and evening, I make it a habit to recite the 5 principles of Reiki. During my meditation sessions, I also incorporate these principles into my breathing exercises. Meditation serves as a valuable tool for me when dealing with worries or challenges that come my way in life. Personally, I consider meditation and Reiki to be essential, much like the act of breathing. Without these practices, especially in times of stress or difficult situations such as health issues or loss, they help bring a sense of calmness, clarity, and the ability to make sound decisions. By tapping into my inner intuition and wisdom, these practices promote self-care and self-healing, which brings me to my next point.
Furthermore, living by these principles has enriched my life in so many ways, transforming my life and guiding me during my personal growth.
Self-care extends beyond making a resolution to eat better in the future or at the beginning of a new year. It entails integrating small gestures into your daily routine that nurture your body, mind, and spirit. Furthermore, self-care is closely linked to the journey of spiritual and personal development. The journey is all about healing, learning, and embracing change that fosters growth, compassion, and happiness.
You have only one body, one mind, and one soul. Without them, nothing else matters, so why not treat yourself to some tender loving care (TLC)? Here are a few examples of self-care:
For the body - opt for a healthier diet and increase your water intake to help rid your body of toxins. Pay attention to your body's signals and reactions to certain foods, using journal writing as a helpful tool for investigation. Cravings can be meaningful messages from your body.
Regular exercise is crucial for various reasons. I have been engaging in cardio, yoga, tai chi, walking with Cherio (my American golden retriever), snorkeling, and core exercises for over 40 years to strengthen my core. If you're looking to resume exercising but lack support, consider scheduling a complimentary half-hour consultation to explore how the 3-month Wellness program could help.
Receiving a massage is beneficial for the body, aiding in relieving muscle soreness and supporting the lymphatic system.
For the mind - take breaks to pamper yourself or focus on personal growth. Engage in activities like relaxation, meditation, reading, listening to podcasts, or pursuing long-held interests.
For the soul - practice meditation to connect with your inner self, enjoy nature walks, spend time with loved ones, cultivate forgiveness and gratitude, show kindness to others, organize and declutter your life, listen to music and read.
The Spiritual Journey - Where and when does it begin?
The spiritual journey varies uniquely for each individual.
For many individuals, it is often after facing challenging circumstances such as the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, unemployment, surviving trauma, or suddenly having to cope with a disability that they may feel shattered and unable to move forward. In such moments, they may experience a compelling urge that guides them towards something new, commonly referred to as "finding their calling." This transformative experience is enlightening and emotionally powerful, leading to a better path. As a result, they start to perceive life from a different perspective, finding that previous worries no longer hold the same weight. This newfound clarity can bring about a sense of calmness and increased confidence. Although the initial transition may seem overwhelming, it is an essential part of the process of understanding one's next steps.
My personal journey of transformation began in 2013 following the painful end of a relationship. I delved into the book, "Soul Centered" by Sarah McLean, immediately integrating this new approach into my life, laying a solid foundation for what was to follow. Embracing mindfulness proved to be quite challenging, as it required unlearning the habit of multitasking that society often promotes. Despite the initial struggle, focusing on one task at a time enabled me to work more efficiently without the unnecessary stress associated with trying to juggle multiple things simultaneously.
When the pandemic struck, I felt a strong pull towards energy healing, despite my initial skepticism. Uncertain about which direction to take, I immersed myself in online research, encountering a mix of believers and skeptics. I purchased a book and attempted self-Reiki without the necessary attunement, experiencing some sensations of warmth that later I realized were from my own energy.
Determined to validate my experiences, I sought out a reputable Reiki Master/Teacher and completed my initial lesson. During the attunement for the first symbol, I felt a significant pressure on my head, akin to a head cold, which lasted for an hour. My instructor explained that each individual's experience is unique.
That night, while lying in bed, I practiced self-Reiki and was amazed by the noticeable increase in energy flow from my hands compared to before the attunement. This led me to promptly enroll in my second lesson - Level 2. Following the requirement of six weeks of self-Reiki practice to hone my skills, I proceeded with my Reiki journey, continuously improving and refining my abilities through practice on family and friends.
Today, as a successful Reiki practitioner, I have integrated aromatherapy and wellness coaching into my practice through both professional and personal development. My passion led me to establish Healing Wellness Path, my own business.
Discovering your purpose requires dedicating time to reflect and connect with your inner wisdom and intuition. This approach has proven to be highly beneficial for me. My spiritual path is continuously unfolding, presenting various challenges and tranquil moments alike. The journey itself holds more significance than the destination, emphasizing the process of achieving your aspirations. What makes it exciting is that the endpoint may shift, leading you in unexpected directions. By embracing the lessons and enjoying the learning process, you enhance your personal growth.
In essence, engaging in self-care, pursuing activities you love, following your dreams, and striving to be your authentic self constitute a fulfilling and rewarding journey.
