The Spiritual Journey

Updated: Jul 17

This article discusses the importance of self-care.

Self-care extends beyond making a resolution to eat better in the future or at the beginning of a new year. It entails integrating small gestures into your daily routine that nurture your body, mind, and spirit. Furthermore, self-care is closely linked to the journey of spiritual and personal development. The journey is all about healing, learning, and embracing change that fosters growth, compassion, and happiness.

You have only one body, one mind, and one soul. Without them, nothing else matters, so why not treat yourself to some tender loving care (TLC)? Here are a few examples of self-care:

For the body - opt for a healthier diet and increase your water intake to help rid your body of toxins. Pay attention to your body's signals and reactions to certain foods, using journal writing as a helpful tool for investigation. Cravings can be meaningful messages from your body.

Regular exercise is crucial for various reasons. I have been engaging in cardio, yoga, tai chi, walking with Cherio (my American golden retriever), snorkeling, and core exercises for over 40 years to strengthen my core. If you're looking to resume exercising but lack support, consider scheduling a complimentary half-hour consultation to explore how the 3-month Wellness program could help.

Receiving a massage is beneficial for the body, aiding in relieving muscle soreness and supporting the lymphatic system.

For the mind - take breaks to pamper yourself or focus on personal growth. Engage in activities like relaxation, meditation, reading, listening to podcasts, or pursuing long-held interests.

For the soul - practice meditation to connect with your inner self, enjoy nature walks, spend time with loved ones, cultivate forgiveness and gratitude, show kindness to others, organize and declutter your life, listen to music and read.

The Spiritual Journey - Where and when does it begin?

The spiritual journey varies uniquely for each individual.

For many individuals, it is often after facing challenging circumstances such as the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, unemployment, surviving trauma, or suddenly having to cope with a disability that they may feel shattered and unable to move forward. In such moments, they may experience a compelling urge that guides them towards something new, commonly referred to as "finding their calling." This transformative experience is enlightening and emotionally powerful, leading to a better path. As a result, they start to perceive life from a different perspective, finding that previous worries no longer hold the same weight. This newfound clarity can bring about a sense of calmness and increased confidence. Although the initial transition may seem overwhelming, it is an essential part of the process of understanding one's next steps.

My personal journey of transformation began in 2013 following the painful end of a relationship. I delved into the book, "Soul Centered" by Sarah McLean, immediately integrating this new approach into my life, laying a solid foundation for what was to follow. Embracing mindfulness proved to be quite challenging, as it required unlearning the habit of multitasking that society often promotes. Despite the initial struggle, focusing on one task at a time enabled me to work more efficiently without the unnecessary stress associated with trying to juggle multiple things simultaneously.

I have integrated aromatherapy and wellness coaching into my practice through both professional and personal development. My passion led me to establish Healing Wellness Path, my own business.

Discovering your purpose requires dedicating time to reflect and connect with your inner wisdom and intuition. This approach has proven to be highly beneficial for me. My spiritual path is continuously unfolding, presenting various challenges and tranquil moments alike. The journey itself holds more significance than the destination, emphasizing the process of achieving your aspirations. What makes it exciting is that the endpoint may shift, leading you in unexpected directions. By embracing the lessons and enjoying the learning process, you enhance your personal growth.

In essence, engaging in self-care, pursuing activities you love, following your dreams, and striving to be your authentic self constitute a fulfilling and rewarding journey.
