aromatherapy:how to make a cocoa blend to reduce cellulite and dry skin

Welcome to world of aromatherapy

For the last year, I have immersed myself in the beautiful world of aromatherapy and loving every moment. I am enrolled in the Clinical Aromatherapy Certification Program with Essentria Aromatherapy and one of our assignment is to create a video on how to make a product.

I hope you enjoy the video.

Cocoa butter blend, 2% dilution

Embrace the luxurious, rich moisturizing blend, caressing your senses with a warm fragrance of home comfort all the while nourishing your body and soul. Carrier oils used are Theobroma nucifera (Cocoa butter), Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose), Cocos nucifera (Fractionated coconut oil), and Essential Oils: Citrus paradisi (Grapefruit), Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium), Cupressus sempervirens (Cypress), and Pogostemon cablin (Patchouli).

This blend nourishes your skin while reducing the appearance of cellulite, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple. Created especially for women, this special blend was formulated to restore calmness by balancing and grounding the inner self.

Recipe

50 ml (1.691 oz) Cocoa butter

6 ml Evening Primrose Oil

4 ml Fractionated Coconut oil

10 drops of Grapefruit

8 drops of Geranium  see notes on Geranium below

3 drops of Cypress

3 drops of Patchouli

For a 2 oz (60 ml) glass-coloured jar or a 2 1 oz glass-coloured jar. (Recommended to use glass over plastic)

In a double-boiler, melt the organic cocoa butter.

In a small graduated cylinder or a small jar, add the evening primrose and fractionated coconut oil followed with the essential oils.

Once the cocoa butter has melted, place the bowl inside an ice bath, to help the cocoa butter cool down, add the carrier oils containing the essential oils, and stir.

While cooling, keep mixing the solution occasionally until you start noticing the solution beginning to solidify. To maintain a whipped texture, continue mixing the blend until it becomes creamy.

Depending on the consistency, you can either pour, scoop the blend with a spoon and add it to your jar.

Label your jar.

Important Tip: if the cocoa butter is very hot, let it sit for a few minutes to cool down before adding the essential oils to prevent evaporation of these volatile organic compounds.

Please ensure that all your equipment is clean and has been sanitized before starting.

Formula Calculation

2 oz jar = approx. 60 ml or 2 1 oz jar = 30 ml each

20 x 2% x 60 ml / 100 = 24 drops of essential oils (approx 1 ml)

60 ml minus 10 ml of carrier oils = 50 ml of Cocoa butter

50 ml = 1.691 oz
